Probe Gold Submits Project Notice for Novador Project, Initiating Permitting Process

Probe Gold Inc. has reached a significant milestone in the development of its Novador project with the official submission of the ‘Project Notice’ to Quebec’s Ministry of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks (MELCCFP). This submission follows the company’s earlier filings with the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) at the federal level, marking the initiation of the permitting process at both federal and provincial levels.

The submission of the Project Notice signifies Probe Gold’s intention to carry out the Novador project, and it will now await guidelines from both the federal and provincial governments. These guidelines will specify the required elements for the impact study, including project context, public information and consultation procedures, implementation environment description, identified issues, impact analysis, proposed mitigation and compensation measures, emergency measures plan, and environmental monitoring and follow-up programs.

David Palmer, President and CEO of Probe Gold, expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone, stating, ‘We have now officially commenced the permitting process at both the federal and provincial levels, marking a significant milestone for the Novador project. We eagerly await guidelines from both governments and look forward to working closely with our stakeholders and government regulators as we navigate the environmental permitting process.’

Yves Dessureault, COO of Probe Gold, highlighted the importance of this submittal in starting the provincial environmental permitting process in Quebec. He mentioned that the company expects to receive both the Federal and Provincial guidelines for the Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Assessment (EIS/EIA) of the Novador project by the end of August 2024. Dessureault emphasized the significance of this milestone, representing the end of Phase 1 at the Federal level, and the company’s commitment to engaging with Indigenous groups and local communities to ensure the success of the Project Novador.

Throughout the environmental assessment process, Probe Gold will work closely with the IAAC and the MELCCFP to ensure the responsible execution of the Novador project. The collaboration with Indigenous groups and other stakeholders will play a crucial role in the development of the project.

Probe Gold Inc. is a leading Canadian company dedicated to the acquisition, exploration, and development of highly prospective gold properties. The company owns 100% of its flagship asset, the multimillion-ounce Novador Gold Project in Quebec, as well as an early-stage Detour Gold Quebec project. With a large land package of approximately 1685-square-kilometres of exploration ground in Quebec’s prolific gold belts, Probe Gold is well-positioned to explore and develop high-quality gold projects. The recent Novador updated Preliminary Economic Assessment outlines a robust mining plan, projecting an average annual gold production of 255,000 ounces over a 12.6-year mine life.
