ZEBULON, N.C. (WNCN) — Zebulon police say they have made an arrest this weekend in an armed bank robbery from last month.

The robbery took place around 9:30 a.m. on February 7 at the PNC Bank at 300 N. Arendell Ave., according to the Zebulon Police Department.

“The suspect pointed a gun at the teller, demanded and got away with an undisclosed amount of money,” police said at the time.

Photos released by police from the robbery showed a man wearing a ski mask — with an eerie, lopsided mouth opening. He was also wearing sunglasses while pointing a gun sideways at a bank worker during the robbery.

On Saturday morning, Zebulon police arrested Victor Antwan Perez, 23, of Wendell on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault by pointing a gun, officials said.

“Detectives have been working tirelessly for the last three weeks,” a news release from police said. “We know crimes of this nature cause a sense of unease in our community. We knew an arrest was needed to bring back a sense of peace for the staff at PNC and neighbors who live near the bank.”

The Wendell Police Department and the FBI assisted in the case.

Perez is being held without bond at the Wake County Jail. His first court date is set for Monday.
