Lions Clubs International recognizes the anniversaries of members with Monarch Chevron awards.

These awards are given to members at their milestone years of service starting at year 10, and continuing every five years thereafter, according to the release.

The Chevron Award is aptly named after the Chevron symbol in reference to a badge indicating length of service, the release said.

Lorain Lions Club secretary Ralph O’Hare presented Monarch Chevron awards to the following members honoring their dedication and years of service: Dr. Richard Marcucci, 45years; Doug Krucinski, 40 years; Jim Czarney, 40 years; John Mazze, 35 years; Bob Pastor, 35 years, Tom Martin, 35 years; Norn Herschleman, 15 years; along with Bill Neeley, Keith Kapanke, Dr. Dave DelPrincipe, Bill Sturgill and Jack Clark all with 10 years of services, the release said.

“Your commitment to service as a member of the Lorain Lions Club is both honorable and commendable as you have touched the lives of so many
people,” O’Hare said in the release. “We recognize the anniversary of our members because they are a reminder of the important milestones in our lives.

“Your service and your kindness are not only changing the world — you are inspiring others to change the world alongside us. Your dedication has given us the opportunity to celebrate, commemorate, and carry out a long legacy of kindness forward into the future.”

Marcucci presented The Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation’s Leadership Award to Lorain Lion George George for his exceptional work chairing fundraising events such as the pancake breakfast and spaghetti dinner, the release said.

The final award of the evening, presented by Marcucci, was The Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation’s Dick Bryan Fellow Award to Lorain Lion Mitchell J. Fallis for his exceptional marketing efforts for making the club’s fundraisers, new member campaigns and service projects visible to the community, according to the release.
