Key Vote Alert – “YES ” on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.

The Club for Growth urges all Representatives to vote YES on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The results of this vote will be included in the Club for Growth Foundation’s 2024 congressional scorecard.

A foundational principle of our republic is that only American citizens should decide who leads the American government. No one in their right mind would outsource policy decisions that affect daily lives of the American people to foreign leaders or citizens. Unfortunately, this basic common-sense principle is being undermined through existing federal law, which makes it illegal to require individuals to prove citizenship when registering to vote under existing Supreme Court precedent. The SAVE Act would fix this by amending the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) by requiring those registering to vote to prove that they are citizens of the United States, among other common sense provisions.

Simply put, a nation cannot survive without protecting the most basic constitutional rights of its citizens. Foremost among these rights is the right to vote, and every non-citizen who votes in our elections robs another American citizen of their God given liberties. No level of snark from those who seem to care little about the foundation liberties guaranteed by the Constitution can change that basic fact. There is no reasonable or sincere argument against this legislation, and the Club urges all members to support it.
