Gas prices fall with price of crude oil





DES MOINES — The price of regular unleaded gasoline fell four cents, averaging $3.28 across Iowa according to AAA.

The price of global crude oil fell last week on the West Texas Intermediate by $. 65 per barrel to $82.56. Brent crude oil fell by $1.22 to $85.48.

One year ago, WTI crude sold for $74.83, and Brent crude was at $79.54.

As of July 12, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.28 across Iowa according to AAA.

Prices fell four cents and were down two cents a gallon from a year ago. The national average July 12 was $3.54, up three cents from the previous week.

Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell one cent with a statewide average of $3.58.

One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.59 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is 30 cents lower than the national average of $3.88.

Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16.

Last week’s Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices were $2.32 for U87-E10, $2.63 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.47 for ULSD #2, $2.72 for ULSD #1 and $2.17 per gallon for E-70 prices.

Natural gas prices fell 16 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.27/MMbtu.
