LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – The City of Laredo continues in a Boil Water Notice as of Sunday.
The City of Laredo released a statement close to 1 am on Sunday morning regarding the testing on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
In that statement to KGNS, City leaders met with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality or TCEQ met twice on Saturday. They tested 60 water samples that were collected by city employees and were evaluated by a lab and the TCEQ.
Results indicated one tested positive for E. coli and two tested positive for high bacteria. Therefore, the city-wide boil water notice will remain in place until further notice.
Laredo Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino said in a statement in part, “The Utilities Department will move forward with the needed process, remaining on the field overnight and flushing the lines. Another set of samples will be collected on Sunday morning, following the range of schedules established by TCEQ.”
The City of Laredo will have a press conference at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, to provide an update on this issue.
