A Hopkinsville woman was charged with stealing lost property at the Wal-Mart on Clinic Drive on June 27.
According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, 33-year-old Leandra Green took a wallet and Samsung phone that was reported lost inside the store. Police said she discarded the phone in a trashcan where it was recovered by store staff.
Green was questioned by police who said she admitted to the theft and discarded a wallet containing $500, however, it was not recovered.
Green was arrested on Tuesday and charged with theft of property mislaid by mistake over $1,000 and theft of property mislaid by mistake over $500 as well as tampering with physical evidence.
