Verizon Business Awarded $176M Contract to Enhance Emergency Communications for DHS

The Department of Homeland Security’s Emergency Communications Division (ECD), in collaboration with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), has chosen Verizon Business as the recipient of a 10-year contract worth $176 million. This contract, initially granted in 1993, solidifies Verizon’s role as a crucial strategic partner in the enhancement of mission-critical communication systems for national security and emergency preparedness efforts.

Under the terms of the agreement, Verizon will provide Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS) and Wireless Priority Service (WPS) to first responders from federal, state, and local public safety agencies. These services will be accessible through Verizon Frontline, a cutting-edge network and technology designed specifically to meet the unique and evolving needs of first responders.

Michael Adams, Associate Vice President for Federal Civilian Services at Verizon, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the Emergency Communications Division and various other federal agencies across the country. Verizon has a long-standing reputation as a trusted digital transformation partner to the federal government, and this partnership with DHS further solidifies their dedication to mission-critical communications.

For over three decades, Verizon has collaborated with public safety agencies, offering a range of services to enable mission-critical communications. These services include a dedicated crisis response team and nationwide access to nearly 600 deployable communication assets. The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team is available 24/7 to provide on-demand emergency assistance during crisis situations. They deploy portable cell sites, Wi-Fi hotspots, charging stations, and other Verizon Frontline devices and solutions that enhance communications and boost network performance.

Verizon’s extensive experience and expertise in supporting first responders make them an invaluable partner in improving emergency communications infrastructure. This contract reinforces Verizon’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of communities across the nation.
