Texas oil and gas jobs continue to grow, December data shows

AUSTIN, Texas (KETK) – Oil and gas jobs in Texas have seen continual growth with over 31,000 jobs added in December of 2023, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission.

The Texas Oil & Gas Association said that in 2023 employers of oil and natural gas payed an average salary of $124,000, which is among the highest in Texas.

President of the TXOGA, Todd Staples said, “despite global economic uncertainties” the year ended with a upward push on job expansion.

“These oil and gas jobs, along with the associated activity in local communities that generates tremendous growth opportunities, benefit every part of Texas and continue to be the cornerstone of the Texas economy,” Staples said.
