Ogazi, Robinson Secure Silver Medals on Third Day of NCAA Championships


EUGENE, Ore. – Alabama sprinters Samuel Ogazi (400m) and Chris Robinson (400-meter hurdles) closed the third day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as national runner-ups in their respective events, as the Crimson Tide claimed a fourth-place team finish – its highest outdoor finish in program history.

Ogazi clocked a personal-best 44.52 in the 400-meter dash, taking silver, en route to a school-record-setting performance, outpacing his previous mark by one-hundredth of a second.

Robinson would follow up with a second-place finish of his own, clocking 47.98 in the 400-meter hurdles. Hurdles teammate Corde Long also reached the podium, finishing in sixth after crossing the line in 49.47.

Earlier in the evening, Tarsis Orogot finished fourth behind a 20.14 performance in the 200-meter dash.

The Crimson Tide men accumulated 32 points to secure its fourth-place finish, the highest outdoor finish in UA men’s program history.

  • The men’s 4×400-meter relay contingent of Chris Robinson, Matthew Weaver, Samuel Ogazi and Khaleb McRae finished ninth, crossing the line in 3:03.18
