Laredo announces partial lift on boil water notice

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Some parts of Laredo are no longer under a boil water notice, Laredo city officials announced on Saturday afternoon.

During a press conference, it was stated the water supplied by the El Pico Water Treatment Plant meets the required standards for safety. It was reported that no traces of E.coli and or bacteria have been found in water supplies by El Pico. As a result, the City is lifting the notice for residents and businesses that are served by El Pico Water Treatment Plant.

The Boil Water Notice remains in effect until further notice for residents served by the Jefferson Water Plant.

City officials stated that resources will be focused on Central Laredo, where high bacterial levels continue in the water.

The latest water quality test results showed 10 tests came back positive with high bacteria but no E.coli in the areas served by Jefferson Water plant.

The city said it was able to shut off valves that prevented the connection between the Jefferson plant and El Pico Plant in the meantime.

To determine which water plant you are served by the City has set up an interactive map you can find at this website and QR code.
