The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday during an event of the launch of a Book authored by Justice Prathiba M Singh said that India is increasingly emerging as a hub for intellectual and innovative prowess as patent filing and the number of patents granted have surged to record highs. India’s ranking on global innovation indices has also risen sharply in recent years. Sitharaman also said that the book authored by Justice Pratibha M Singh is an important resource on the wide-ranging aspects of India’s fast-paced and ever-evolving IPR regime and the interplay between legal, technological, and economic factors. “Justice Pratibha M. Singh has had a close view of the developments in India’s intellectual property regime over the years and the book is a reflection of her profound understanding and contribution to the larger field of IPR law and policy. Her insights, drawn from a long, inspiring and illustrious legal and judicial career, offer invaluable insights into the larger Indian patent law jurisprudence,” she added.

Water supply board chief assures residents of stable water supply in Bengaluru
Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board chairperson Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar on Saturday addressed the water crisis the city has been witnessing. He said, “We must clarify this to the people of Bengaluru and also the global citizens about Bengaluru. In the city, we have 1 crore 40 lakh population, 150 litres of water consumption per person per day is required. The total quantity required for Bengaluru is 200000 mld (million litres per day).” Speaking on the sources from where the city is receiving water, he said, “Right now from Cauvery, we are getting 10450 mld of water. Currently, the reservoir provides 34 thousand million cubic feet (tmc) of water. The requirement for Bengaluru for the next five months is only eight tmc water. The water from Cauvery will be sufficient till July.”

Delhi namaz incident: Security forces remain deployed in Inderlok, hold flag march
A day after a Delhi Police sub-inspector was suspended for allegedly kicking people offering ‘namaz’ in Inderlok, security personnel remained deployed on Saturday to maintain law and order in the area, officials said. At least three companies of paramilitary along with the local police remained deployed in Inderlok and its nearby areas in north Delhi, they said. The force also a held a flag march and requested locals to not believe on rumours. Official sources said the senior police officers held meetings with the members of a peace committee to calm flared tempers in the area. Joint Commissioner of Police (Central) Parmaditya on Saturday said the situation is completely under control and peace prevails in the area.

ED searches 12 locations across Odisha, Bengal on charges of illegal ire ore mining
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Bhubaneswar conducted search operations under provisions of PMLA, 2002, at 12 locations in Bhubaneswar, Barbil, Rourkela and Kolkata at the premises of M/s Deepak Steel and Power Ltd, M/s Snehapusph Marketing (P) Ltd, its directors and others in the matter relating to alleged illegal iron ore mining scam in Joda, District-Keonjhar, Odisha. During the search operation, Indian currency worth Rs 30 Lakh, 2 Kg gold bullion worth Rs 1.24 Crore, One Volvo XC40 Car, digital devices and incriminating documents were seized, ED said in a post on X on Saturday.
