Ferdinand Derk, 80, of Coal Township Ferdinand Derk, 80, of 1025 West Montgomery street, Coal Township, PA, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Ditman, who died in 1982. Born in Shamokin, September 7, 1930, he was the son of the George W. Derk and Bertha Fabian. He resided in Pottstown from 1972 until 1986, when he returned to Shamokin. He was a trimmer for Weyerhauser Paper Co., Philadelphia. He attended Shamokin schools and was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Shamokin. Surviving are daughters, Barbara Kennedy and husband, Michael, of Lower Pottsgrove and Susan Martinson and husband, Bud, of Portland, Oregon; son, Donald Derk and wife, Sherri, Lower Pottsgrove; companion, Rose Dougherty, Coal Township; 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20 at 12 Noon from the Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth & Chestnut Sts., Shamokin, with the Reverend Sam Bellivia officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 to 12 noon at the funeral home. Graveside services will held at the Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown, on Tuesday, November 23 at 11 a.m.
