FBI looking for a suspect they say robbed banks in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Law enforcement are asking the public for help identifying the so-called “Bandit in Black,” who they say robbed two banks in July.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says the suspect robbed the New Mexico Bank & Trust on Southern Boulevard in Rio Rancho with a gun and demanded money on Friday, July 5. They say the same suspect also robbed the Bank of Albuquerque at 6530 Paradise Blvd on July 3.


The FBI describes the suspect as:

  • Male
  • Approximately 6 feet tall
  • Medium build
  • Wearing black shoes, black pants, black hoodie, black gloves, black mask and black mesh covering entire face

The FBI is offering up to $2,000 as a reward for information that leads to the conviction of the suspect. Tips can be called in to the FBI at (505) 889-1300 or to the Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers anonymously at (505) 843-STOP.
