Birmingham Fire and Rescue responds to second hazmat call in two days


Some streets and roadways were closed in Birmingham, as first responders handled a mineral oil spill.They have since been reopened.Fire crews were called to Third Avenue West and 11th Street West just after 6 p.m.The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) said after assessing the situation, it was determined about 200-300 gallons of mineral oil were spilled from a container on a truck at that location.The BFRS said there was no danger to the public and there were no waterways in the area that would have been impacted.BFRS said the truck owner/company called a private contractor that will clean up the spillage.
