American Power Group Converts Over 325 Diesel Frac Engines to Dual Fuel Technology

American Power Group Corporation (APG) has achieved a significant milestone by converting over 325 diesel frac engines/pumps to its innovative Dual Fuel Technology. The company has received approximately $2.2 million in follow-on orders from its network of certified dealer/installers since October 1st, with an additional $800,000 expected to be shipped in the September 4th fiscal quarter. This brings APG’s fiscal 2024 year-to-date revenue to approximately $2.9 million, a remarkable increase of over 230% compared to all of fiscal 2023.

APG’s S4000 Dual Fuel Technology seamlessly integrates natural gas from renewable, fossil, or treated field gas into the induction system of a diesel engine, displacing up to 65% of the diesel fuel. The system does not require any modifications to the OEM diesel engine components, ensuring that the base engine temperature and pressure parameters remain unchanged. APG’s software-based Dual Fuel solution allows for peak diesel displacement of up to 65%, with an average displacement of around 50%, without the need for expensive additional pre-combustion or spark arresting hardware protection.

The S4000 system has gained a reputation for its exceptional field performance, boasting the highest up-time and lowest total cost of ownership in the dual fuel industry. In May 2023, APG celebrated reaching the milestone of 15 million cumulative run hours for its stationary dual fuel applications, a testament to the reliability of the S4000 solution.

APG’s Dual Fuel Technology has been successfully implemented on a wide range of OEM diesel engine platforms, including Caterpillar, Cummins, MTU, Detroit Diesel, MAN B&W, Kohler, Perkins, John Deere, Komatsu, Wartsila, Isuzu, Nigata, and Daihtsu. The technology has been applied to generator power ratings ranging from 100kW to 12MW.

Chuck Coppa, CEO/CFO of APG, expressed optimism about the future, stating, ‘Displacing up to 65% of the diesel fuel with natural gas has had an enormous impact on operating costs, emissions, and carbon footprint for operators using our technology. As renewable natural gas (RNG) becomes more prevalent and renewable diesel becomes more ubiquitous, the benefits will only increase. The ability to run on four sources of fuel gives operators choices without compromising the reliability of the well-proven diesel engine.’

American Power Group Corporation, through its subsidiary American Power Group Inc., provides cost-effective alternative fueling solutions for diesel engines, significantly reducing methane criteria pollutants and contributing to a low-carbon future. APG’s Dual Fuel conversion technology enables high-horsepower diesel engines to safely displace up to 60% of diesel fuel with natural gas, including renewable natural gas (RNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), captured flare-stack methane, and conditioned well-head gas. The technology also remains fully compatible with eligible biodiesel blends and renewable diesel fuels, further reducing carbon footprint and helping companies meet their Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) objectives.

With outstanding dual fuel conversion quotes totaling over $4 million, APG is actively working to convert these quotes into actual orders. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability positions it as a leader in the alternative fuel industry, offering reliable and efficient solutions for reducing emissions and operating costs.
