Since 4:20 p.m. yesterday—a time that might bring a knowing smile to some—residents of Southern Humboldt have been left in the dark due to an unplanned power outage affecting 756 customers. As of now, the lights remain off, with many growing frustrated over PG&E’s shifting restoration estimates.
According to PG&E’s Outage Map, “This is an unplanned outage. Our crew found a power line on the ground and will make repairs.” However, customers say the company’s timeline keeps getting delayed. One customer shared, “They had times of 10 then 12 last night, then noon today, and now 7:00.”
However, the latest estimate is 8:30 tonight.
With another evening approaching, many are scrambling to figure out how to cook dinner or get needed online tasks completed. However, until the power is restored, Southern Humboldt residents are preparing for yet another night without electricity.
We’ve reached out to PG&E’s representative several hours ago for more information. There has been no reply.

UPDATE: PG&E is showing power has been restored to the entire Southern Humboldt area.
