Kano gov, Emir Sanusi hold closed-door meeting with security chiefs

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf and the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll are presently in a meeting with security Chiefs in the state.

The meeting is coming amidst the ongoing dispute within the royal family, causing unease throughout the state.

A few hours after the closed-door meeting, Sanusi moved to his private residence in the Emirate Palace, accompanied by the governor and other supporters.

However, the details of the meeting cannot be confirmed at the time of filing this report.

On Thursday, Yusuf dethroned the 15th Kano emir, Aminu Ado Bayero and re-appointed Sanusi after assenting to a new law which repealed Kano Emirates Council law.

Despite his dethronement, Bayero in the early hours of Saturday returned to the palace at Nassarawa which raised tension in the state.

Bayero noted that justice would prevail and pledged to follow whatever the law states, emphasising Kano’s importance to Nigeria.

Dissatisfied with Bayero’s return to the palace, the state governor ordered his arrest.
