Will County Man Accused of Strangling Female Household Member

A 24-year-old man has been arrested over 10 times by Grundy and Will County authorities since 2018. In August of 2018, Findlay along with three others were arrested by the Braidwood Police Department for drug dealing. He was placed on two years of probation for possessing a controlled substance in that Will County case.

In late January of 2019, the Coal City Police Department received a video showing Findlay kicking and choking by foot a small white dog at a residence in Coal City. He was arrested on February 7th of 2019 and was sentenced to two years of probation on the animal cruelty case in February of 2023.

The Braidwood Police Department reported a vehicle driven by Findlay struck a tree in the 200 block of North Division Street in Braidwood on March 21st of 2020. After the accident, Findlay walked away from the scene, allegedly leaving behind his sandals and a Polar Pop. After further investigation, the vehicle had been stolen from a dealership in Grundy County.

In addition, police officials say before the accident, Findlay was seen on surveillance video buying the Polar Pop at a nearby gas station seven minutes before the accident. Findlay was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle as that case is still ongoing today. The Braidwood Police Department also arrested Findlay and another individual in the 500 block of North Center Street in Braidwood after reports of a fight in progress on August 26th of 2023.

Investigators with the Braidwood Police Department said Findlay allegedly hit another individual with a 2X6 piece of lumber in the face. Will County court records show Findlay was charged with Aggravated Battery, a class three felony and that case is still ongoing. Findlay was also arrested by the Braidwood and Bradley Police Department in late January of 2024. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Domestic Battery, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Police and five counts of domestic battery.

Investigators say Findlay allegedly entered a house by crawling through an unlocked bedroom window, strangled a female household member and then proceeded to let her breathe as he  would repeat the process at a house on Elm Street in Braidwood in the early morning hours on January 29th. Findlay is also accused of kicking and punching the same female in the stomach area. The alleged strangling was corroborated by a witness in the house, who called 911.

The woman was eventually taken to Morris Hospital for her injuries. Once police arrived on scene, Findlay got into a car and fled the scene. Police officials say Findlay was able to get away after a five-minute pursuit on Interstate 55.  The Bradley Police Department was able to apprehend Findlay after he once again led authorities on a pursuit, a few hours following the alleged domestic battery incident. He was transported to the Will County Jail where he is being detained.

The victim in the domestic battery case had an active unserved order of protection against Findlay, which was issued a few days prior. Additional charges could be filed by the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office in the future.
